Write & Burn! 2026
Write & Burn! is a poetry performance competition organised by Poetry Festival Singapore (PFS), aimed at youth between the ages of 15 and 18 from all backgrounds and all schools, junior colleges, centralized institutions, and international schools in Singapore. In past editions, madrasah students have performed alongside students from junior colleges, Millennia Institute, and international schools.
By fostering meaningful connections among themselves and with Singapore’s literary scene — through a workshop with a renowned Singapore spoken word poet — Write & Burn! aspires to encourage participants to: (1) examine and interrogate their personal identities, (2) develop their passion for and talents in poetry, and (3) foster social awareness by illuminating perspectives for their peers.
Write & Burn! serves as an accessible, low-barrier entry point for students of all backgrounds into Singapore’s literary arts scene, complemented by a workshop to help participants develop their craft and their voices.
This year's edition of Write & Burn! is sponsored by EduPeer and the National Arts Council, in partnership with Outspoken.
EduPeer is a university counselling service that guides students and families applying to the world’s top universities. EduPeer’s work begins with a fundamental belief: that young people who read widely, write authentically, and find their own voice are better prepared — not just for university applications, but for life.
As a collaborating partner of Write & Burn! 2026, EduPeer extends its support to widen the reach of WnB. EduPeer’s contribution includes: the EduPeer Award for Original Voice (with runner-up prizes), a dedicated workshop session, digital promotion of the competition via social media and school networks, and representation at the prize ceremony.
